As regards dentists, it is agreed that at present in France, there is no official recognition of specialists in dental implantology and validation of their qualification in this field. The traditional, non-compulsory French graduate program  lasts two years to obtain a D.U (in implantology, after a degree in dental surgery). But, any dentist can take a two or three day course and call himself a specialist in implantology. Manufacturers, such as Nobel Biocare, in their advertising, moreover, encourage dentists to develop their patients’  “implants potential “ and offer them a two-day training course, for around 2000 euros.
